Beach is accessible, not too crowded late in the day. Parking fee is nonsense. $10 per day, no matter how long you are there.

The South Haven public beach is one of my favorites. The beach is very well maintained, kept graded and clean. Walking the pier to the lighthouse and back is a must just for the lake views. And there are many people who line the pier at dawn to fish. OF course, you can even swim - the water is just deep enough for swimming, and stays at waist-high level for a long way out. The entire area is friendly and welcoming. Parking is a challenge, but if you are willing to walk, there is a public parking area where a farmers' market is held on Saturday morning that is convenient to the beach. Get there early - the crowds start to build around 10 am and don't fade until after sunset.

Excellent beach. Has lost Beach area in recent years but still is an amazing experience for adults and children alike. An all time favorite. Clean and well maintained. 10/10 would recommend. Take a walk out to the lighthouse at sunset. Jump the waves. Make a sand castle on the beach.

Great area. Scenic, not too busy, lots of beach space.

Much more crowded than North Beach, it seems this is where everyone goes, because of the beautiful pier and lighthouse. At sunset, the lights come alive and leave shining reflections on the sand. You can also see boats coming in on the Black River, as they return to the marina for the evening. There's a rest area with the handicap stall having a bench for helping you to change - if you're swimming after sunset, note that this might be closed. There are 2 concession areas, paid parking (free after 6), picnic tables, and a play area for kids. The water is warmer and there are fewer waves than on North Beach, because of the protection of the pier.
