Very friendly crew. Order came in a timely manner, hot and fresh.
If they would have been busy, perhaps I would have let it slide, especially if the food was any good. But there being no rush of customers, and the food being ok at an absolute best. Coupled with lackluster service & not so much as an apology for the long wait. Truly make this someplace to avoid.
Came to South Haven for a weekend and tried a few different restaurants in the area and this one was by far the best. The wait was about 30 mins which is not bad considering other places will have you waiting over an hour. The food is good. Just a no frills burger joint with a lot of local craft beer options. Pretty cool!
Appetizer was amazing, definitely suggest the pretzel stix with the jalapeno cream cheese.
Group of four, we called on Thursday about Saturday comedy night, told yes but buy tickets ahead in case of sellout, one of us drives down Friday and bought tickets for next day comedy show, we arrived early on Saturday to have dinner first and then see comedy show. Guy that sat us never mentioned that comedy show was canceled ( we said we were there for show). Half way through our dinner we again mentioned to our waiter about comedy show and he tells us "Oh, that was canceled". Two of us came from Fennville, two of us came from North of Holland. We will stick with comedy shows in Grand Rapids from now on, very poor communication between owner and workers in this place. Food was ok but we didn't drive that far for the food only.
Another great night at BRT, they have awesome food, great bartenders. I recommend!!! 5 stars.
I can say for certain, I will never again visit Black River Tavern while vacationing in South Haven. On our last trip we decided to stop in for a "quick bite", which became far less than quick. From the time we sat down, to the time we received our food, it took a hour and fifteen minutes. There were only 3 of us...
My wrap had a delightful taste and THE CRISPY CHICKEN DID NOT TASTE LIKE FISH, like at other places. I appreciate that very much.
Definitely coming here again!
